The Technology Innovation of the Year award recognises technologies that deliver environmental or climate benefits through real-world application and innovation, making this recognition particularly meaningful for Total ReThink.
Giving Technology a Longer Life
The idea behind Total ReThink is simple: technology that still has value should stay in use for longer.
Through professional refurbishment and recertification, laptops and desktops are given a new lease of life, providing businesses, schools and individuals with a reliable alternative to always buying new.
Extending the lifecycle of these devices also helps reduce electronic waste, demand for raw materials and the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new technology.
An Impact That Continues to Grow
The progress made over the past three years demonstrates just how much of a difference extending the life of technology can make. Total ReThink’s estimated CO₂ emissions avoided were:

That brings the estimated cumulative impact between 2023 and 2025 to approximately 15.5 million kg of CO₂ emissions avoided. Importantly, the estimated annual impact has continued to increase each year, reflecting the growing scale of the work being done.
