International E-Waste Day 2025

14 October marks International E-Waste Day, an annual initiative by the WEEE Forum that raises global awareness about electronic waste and encourages more responsible ways to manage it.

At Total Imports, we proudly support this campaign through our refurbishment brand Total ReThink, which focuses on extending the life of laptops & desktops, reducing waste, and promoting a more sustainable future for technology in Ireland.

Why International E-Waste Day Matters

Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. Every year, millions of devices reach the end of their first use, even though many can still be repaired, reused, or refurbished.

International E-Waste Day reminds us that small actions, like reusing or refurbishing, can make a big difference. Through Total ReThink, we help turn that awareness into action by extending the lifespan of IT products and keeping valuable materials in use.

Refurbishment in Action

Refurbishment is a practical and proven way to reduce environmental impact. It allows technology to stay in circulation for longer, saves energy and materials, and helps lower the amount of e-waste generated.

Through Total ReThink, every laptop and desktop undergoes detailed inspection, testing, and restoration to ensure performance, reliability, and longevity. Our goal is to make sustainable technology accessible to everyone while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Real Results and Measurable Impact

Refurbishment delivers clear environmental and economic benefits:

  • 32 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions saved, around 95 percent less CO₂ per device compared to manufacturing new.
  • Over 190,000 litres of water saved per laptop.
  • 100 percent recyclable packaging.
  • Up to 70 percent cost savings on refurbished laptops and desktops.

These figures highlight how choosing refurbished technology can help conserve resources and reduce our collective footprint without compromising on performance or reliability.

The 2025 Focus: Critical Raw Materials

This year, International E-Waste Day focuses on Critical Raw Materials. These are the essential elements found inside electronic devices that are becoming harder to source responsibly.

By extending the life of technology through refurbishment, Total ReThink helps keep these materials in circulation for longer. This supports a circular economy and reduces the environmental pressure caused by extracting new resources.

Our Shared Commitment

At Total Imports, sustainability means taking responsibility for how technology is used and managed. Through Total ReThink, we promote refurbishment as a key part of that responsibility, helping reduce waste and support more efficient use of materials.

In partnership with the WEEE Forum, we are committed to raising awareness about e-waste reduction and inspiring individuals, schools, and businesses to take small steps that create long-term environmental benefits.
